My Career as a Technical Documentation Professional

I LOVE my current career position…so much so, in fact, that the term ‘job’ does not do it justice.  I have been a technical documentation professional for over 20 years now – which means that, during that time period, people and companies have paid me to write everything from test documents for the TRIDENT II missile system to magazine article copy.

I am a Senior Member of the Orange County chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC), which is the pre-eminent professional association for technical documentation professionals (such as but not limited to: writers, editors, graphics specialists, website builders and training professionals). For the past 10+ years, I have been the volunteer in charge of managing the chapter's member name badges. For my service, I received a Distinguished Chapter Service Award in 2003.

I currently edit and publish two newsletters: The Light Sabre, a monthly for the Jedi Knights (a STAR WARS-based fantasy/fan club); and Sumo Shimpo, a bi-monthly for the Southern California Sumo Kyokai.
